Los Angeles Beauty Photographer Courtney Dailey- wedding woes.
So many of you know that I’m getting married in June. It seems like a fun adventure to plan a wedding, but now I understand why the planning aspect is associated with stress! With this I will share my first woe…As a photographer, I cannot believe how many photographers didn’t even respond to my inquiry when I gushed over their work and asked if they were available June 22nd! I was just downright disgusted, that after such flattery these folk didn’t even care to say “hey thanks, but I’m booked” or something! Even if you though I was a spy, look at my page, I don’t even live in your area. I wish I could out these photographers, because I’m spiteful like that. Photographers need photos too. Moral of the day, sometimes other photographers are just spys, take it was a compliment. But the other times they just want you to make them look good, and they trust your skill set.
I had a great afternoon working on an awesome Cover story for a men’s magazine, with the lovely Ruvi Bazaz. The makeup artist and I both had mad love for a bold lip! I chose a ring flash for this shoot, so that I could get that golden glow that only direct light give, but it’s also great for a men’s magazine! I can’t wait to see what images they choose!
missiegirl asked: Hi Courtney, I saw your video interview on Sandy Puc Live on Wednesday, Jan 9, and I haven't been the same. I was a model when I was younger and have wanted to be a fashion photographer ever since. Well, I started a family and that took priority. Not being able to quench that desire, I would take (as good as I could with a cheap film camera) "lifestyle" pix of my kids and friends. Here I am in my 30's and finally trying to follow my dream, but I've lost my nerve. I need help, can you coach me?
OMG. I just got this message! Lets chat! Email me at courtd@gmail.com
So Ive admitted in the past. I LOVE the color red, I love what a bold statement it makes. I love the focal point it provides and lastly it’s just so eye catching. Color in general for need to be bold. I love splashes of color, but red by far is my favorite color in a beauty shoot. Red conveys confidence, it takes a strong woman to wear a gorgeous red lip. I recommend taking an evening and wearing a red lip. I LOVE Revlons Just Bitten Lip stain in Romantic. I recently wore it on tour. It was bold but translucent. Its a great baby step those of us who can don a bold liner perfect lip, just yet.
Check out my friend Erin Lato’s take on the color red. Red can be used a focus color in any genre, including fabulous children/family sessions. http://www.ellphotography.com/for-photographers/christmas-red
